20 Tibetan guesthouse owners and hotel managers from Sichuan, Qinghai and Yunnan
participated in a week long Hotel Management Trainingin Chengdu, China. Professor Loh from EDS business school was the main trainer. The Bridge Fund also invited a very experienced trainer from the Tourism Department of Southwest Minorities University to provide a half-day training on how guesthouses can provide the best services.
During the week-long training the participants stayed in 4 different style hotels where they were able to get a feel for and observe the operations. In addition, participants went on a one-day study tour in Chengdu to visit three different style hotels, where hotel managers spoke about their experiences. Participants developed a direct understanding of the hotel market, and how to provide the best services to satisfy customers’ expectations.
The participants not only learned hotel management and marketing skills but also made many friends in the industry and developed stronger business networks in Tibetan regions and in Chengdu.
